Programme Details:

Digital media design is one of the most dynamic design disciplines in the creative industries. It encapsulates a blend of creativity in motion and interactive design as well as technology in digital media. The key areas that form the basis of digital media design are user interaction and experience design, web and mobile app design, motion graphics, effects and video making. Leveraging on advanced multimedia authoring tools as well as the latest technology in screen and interactive media, the underpinnings of digital media design revolve around the generation of dynamic and interactive visual experiences to innovate design solutions to real-world issues and needs.

Today, the visual communication design industry is increasingly competitive and ever-evolving with technological advancements. In view of this, the Advanced Diploma in Digital Media Design programme is structured with emphasis on equipping students with industry-focused design knowledge and skill sets, as well as keeping them closely in touch with the technological development relevant to digital media design.

Building on the foundation of Diploma in Visual & Media Design, the curriculum of Digital Media Design encompasses advanced conceptual and technical skill development in areas such as design literacy, communication strategy, creative problem-solving, and analytical exploration of current design trends and industry development. The curriculum of the programme will be delivered in a mix of teaching strategies ranging from lectures and seminars to tutorials and technical demonstrations. Complemented with a comprehensive assessment framework, the pedagogic approach of the programme provides students with a positive learning experience that meets the intended learning objectives and outcomes.

Towards the end of the programme, students will gain advanced competency in conceptual ability, aesthetic sensibility, and technical proficiency in digital media design. This will enable students to establish a strong design background to further their studies at degree level or to kickstart their career in digital media design.

Programme Details:

Merging the creative and the technical, the Digital Media BA course will help you to develop skills and practices suited to a range of fields including the Internet of Things (IoT), immersive technologies such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and web, mobile and games app development.

The Digital Media BA course is different from a traditional programming or computer science course as its focus is primarily on creative production in the field of media using digital tools in 3D modelling, application development, immersive technologies, and audio and video production among others.

You will engage in practical hack labs, where you will work through the entire iteration process for digital projects such as reinventing classic arcade games or deploying mobile applications to a client brief. Using the principles of Agile software development, this will enable you to develop your project management and user testing knowledge and skills.

The course focuses on laying a flexible foundation of skills which will prepare you for a changing digital and technological landscape. On successful graduation, you can seek out roles in digital marketing and advertising, IoT development, UI/UX design and testing, web and mobile app development and, increasingly, in augmented reality/virtual reality development.
