Programme Overview

The course gives students the creative and technical knowledge and skills they need to become professionals in the fashion industry. Using an integrated approach that combines creativity and applied technical proficiency, it takes students from design concepts and processes through to final production. Exploratory and experimental projects enable students to develop an in-depth understanding of fashion design. With a strong foundation in technical proficiency and a good eye for market trends, students are able to start honing their individual styles and identities through their collections.

The 6-month Certificate Course provides an in-depth exploration of fashion design principles, while the 3-month Short Term Course offers a concise introduction to the world of fashion design, covering principles, textiles, and pattern-making.

The Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design enables students to acquire advanced thinking skills, understanding and knowledge critical to key fashion design functions. In an increasingly competitive, commercial and technological environment, designers have never played such a central and important role in re-defining an ever-changing ‘creative’ environment. This curriculum allows students to think both creatively and strategically and acquire more advanced skills related to the world of Fashion Design.

The curriculum of the programme will be delivered in a mix of teaching tactics ranging from lectures, demonstrations and seminars to tutorials and various assessment methods including assignments, presentations, research and development, projects, quiz and examinations. Throughout the programme, emphasis will be put on building more sophisticated conceptual abilities and aesthetic sensibilities of the students. The main objective of the programme is clearly about enabling students to develop more effective designs solutions for design problems as well as being able to develop a personal style of design and design aesthetics

If you have a passion for fashion, dream of seeing your designs on the international catwalks or fancy yourself as the next Iris Van Herpen or Christopher Kane, our course will nurture your individual creativity and help you realise your dreams.

Fast paced and dynamic, this course seeks to support you in developing your individual creativity and fashion design judgment, encouraging an active approach to learning through the ongoing production of innovative fashion artefacts.

Influenced by the needs and opinions of the profession, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in live projects, competition briefs and hear from visiting experts to provide a national and international perspective (to include cultural diversity).
