As rightly said by Andre Gide, “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” designers needs to explore, experiment, experience different aspects of design.
Keeping this aspect in mind Raffles Design International, Mumbai organised a field trip to London, Prague and Vienna in September 2016 for the Annual London Design Week.
Interior Design lecturer Ms Manasee Kakkad, in close collaboration with the Interior Design Faculty team organised the field trip. The chosen destinations were:
London : the trip planned to coincide with the London Design festival.
Prague : The capital of Czech republic, is home to number of famous cultural attractions many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th century Europe.
Vienna : The capital and the largest city of Austria houses a variety of architectural styles to learn from.

The trip aimed for a strong international exposure in various fields of design. Close interaction with designers and trade partners during London Design week helped students to enhance their awareness towards technology and material innovation. In London they attended the 100% design trade event and participated in a sustainable walk that gave them an insight into town planning and urban development.
In Prague students explored the rich cultural heritage and visited the famous Prague castle, the astronomical clock, and Charles Bridge and Dancing house. In Vienna students studied the various ancient architectural styles combined with modern architecture. They visited the Schonbrunn Palace and Belvedere and undertook a Royal Imperial walk through the magnificent Hofburg Palace
